Ethics Line – internal reporting system
Internal reporting system for employers and other obliged entities under the Czech Whistleblower Protection Act No. 171/2023 Coll. and the Slovak Act No. 54/2019 Coll. on the protection of whistleblowers. The system is operated by a law firm.
What the Ethics Line provides
- A secure form available at all times, anonymously or with a name; oral, paper and in-person reports are recorded as well.
- Acknowledgement of receipt and feedback on the outcome through the reporter's code, even if the reporter stays anonymous.
- Confidentiality: only the competent person knows the content of a report and the reporter's identity. Management receives summary overviews and proposed measures without data on the reporter.
- A record of reports as required by law.
- In the Czech Republic, a lawyer of the firm acts as the competent person. In Slovakia we receive and acknowledge reports; the responsible person stays with the employer, and for employers with fewer than 250 employees we also investigate.
- The form is available in Czech, Slovak and English.
Who is responsible
The obliged entity entrusts the law firm with operating the internal reporting system; responsibility for meeting the statutory obligations remains with the obliged entity.
How it works
- Receipt – form, phone, meeting in person or paper. The reporter receives a code and an acknowledgement of receipt.
- Assessment – the competent person assesses the report and may ask for more information through the code.
- Outcome – feedback to the reporter, proposed measures for the employer and overviews for management without the content of reports.
